Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Here are the most frequently asked questions that we receive.
What exactly is “Born for Greatness”? We are a youth development organization dedicated to transforming boys and young men (ages 10–25) into leaders. We use a blend of life coaching, outdoor experiential learning, and mentorship to help them find clarity and build the “roaring courage” needed to succeed in the modern world.
Is this program only for “troubled” boys? Not at all. While we are highly effective at helping young men navigate behavioral challenges like disrespect or procrastination, our programs are designed for any boy who wants to level up. Whether he is a high achiever looking for leadership skills or a quiet dreamer needing a confidence boost, we help him reach his next level.
What do you mean by “Father-Figuring”? In many homes today, there is a “mentorship gap.” Our mentors step in as positive male role models who provide the guidance, accountability, and “tough-but-fair” love that boys need to transition into healthy manhood. We complement the work of parents and guardians, providing a strong masculine support system.
My son spends all his time on his phone/gaming. Can you help? Yes. This is one of our primary focuses. Our Outdoor Learning programs are designed to be “digital detoxes.” By taking boys into nature (hiking, survival skills), we replace dopamine from screens with the genuine satisfaction of physical achievement and real-world teamwork.
How do you handle disrespectful behavior or “attitude” at home? Behavior is usually a symptom of a deeper issue—lack of purpose or an identity crisis. Through Life Coaching, we help your son understand why he is acting out and give him the tools to communicate his frustrations healthily. We also offer Parenting Workshops to help you align your home environment with the leadership principles he learns here.
Is the Outdoor Learning safe? Safety is our #1 priority. All our outdoor expeditions are led by trained professionals with experience in wilderness first aid and youth safety. We choose locations that are challenging enough to build character but are strictly monitored for safety.
How does this program fit into the school calendar? We align our major camps and intensives with the Kenyan Ministry of Education holidays (April, August, and the long December break). For schools, we offer bespoke leadership workshops that can be integrated into your term-time co-curricular activities.
Can you help with students struggling with academic pressure? Absolutely. We teach “The Greatness Mindset,” which focuses on resilience. We help students handle the pressure of exams (like KCSE/CBC) by teaching them time management, focus, and how to bounce back from a poor grade without losing their self-worth.
Is this just another “school” where I get lectured? Definitely not. We believe in doing, not just listening. Whether you’re learning survival skills in the wild, discovering a hidden talent in our Academy, or being coached 1-on-1, you are the driver. We don’t lecture; we challenge you to prove to yourself what you’re capable of.
I don’t know what I want to do with my life. Is that okay? That’s exactly why we’re here. Most young men feel “stuck.” Our Talent Nurturing Academy and Life Coaching are designed to help you find clarity. We help you look at what’s already in your hands and show you how to turn those interests into a future you’re excited about.
What is the age limit for your programs? Our core programs are tailored for boys and young men between the ages of 10 and 25, grouped appropriately by age to ensure the mentorship and activities are relevant.
How do I get started? The best way to start is by booking a Discovery Call. This is a short conversation where we learn about your son’s specific needs and recommend the program (Coaching, Outdoor Learning, or Leadership) that would be the best fit for him.
