programs

Our programs are designed not just to transform your son, but to give you peace of mind as well.

Co-Active Coaching

For the boy who needs someone to truly see him.
A safe, confidential space where your son is heard without judgment. Through narrative storytelling and deep listening, we help him unpack the story he’s been living — and author a new one rooted in clarity, confidence, and purpose.

What this means for you: You get your son back. The boy who talks to you. The boy who believes in himself.

Roaring Courage Program

Our signature 3-month transformation journey.
A powerful combination of narrative coaching, outdoor adventure (hiking, camping, mountain biking), leadership facilitation, and a 3-day camping retreat under African stars — a modern rite of passage where your son steps into his greatness.

What this means for you: Structure, discipline, and a defining moment of transformation — without you having to be the enforcer.

Soccer Academy

Where discipline meets belonging.
Team sports teach boys what no classroom can: accountability, resilience, teamwork, and how to lose with dignity. Our soccer academy is more than a sport — it’s a brotherhood of positive male peers.
What this means for you: A healthy community that replaces the toxic friendships you’ve been worried about.

Outdoor Learning Adventure

Breakthrough happens in motion.
Through camping, hiking, and mountain bike cycling, we take boys out of their comfort zones and into the wild — where distractions disappear and character is forged.
What this means for you: Your son off screens, out of the house, and into an environment that builds him up instead of tearing him down.

Family Coaching

Because you matter too.
We don’t just mentor your son. We equip you with tools to communicate, set boundaries, and rebuild trust — so the transformation lasts long after our program ends.
What this means for you: You are never the last to know again. You become the confident parent your son needs.

Why Parents Trust Us

What Makes Us Different

1. Our Founder Was That Boy

Hawi James Ouma grew up without a father. He was timid, shy, and wrestled with low self-esteem. He knows the wound of fatherlessness because he lived it. That is why every boy who walks through our door is met with understanding, not pity.

2. We Don't Shame Him, We Guide

We never tell a boy he is “bad.” We help him see the story he’s been living and ask: “Is this the story you want to keep telling?”

3. We Become the Further-Figure He Needs

For single mothers and working mothers, we are the trusted male presence your son craves — without the risks of bringing the wrong man into your home.

4. We Work With the Whole Family

We don’t just mentor your son. We support YOU. Because a transformed boy needs a supported parent.

5. We Measure What Matters

Confidence. Clarity. Courage. Character. These are the metrics that matter more than grades.

Our Happy Clients!

“As a mother, it’s extremely hard to accept that your son is involved with social vices. I would get agitated and really question my capacity as a parent. But James helped me get through this and even helped my son to overcome his struggles through coaching and constant guidance.”

— M.M., Mother

“I was desperate and destitute after losing my job. Not knowing where to turn to for help, I posted my vulnerability online. James helped me find clarity and regain my confidence and self-worth.”

— Naomi, Digital Marketer

“When I signed up for coaching with James, I needed help with changing my character, behaviour and the way I looked at friendship. I had not met a man who was genuinely concerned about me and my progress as a young man. Thank you James for visiting my family at home and helping me to see my full potential!”

— Teddy, Former Juvie

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Here are the most frequently asked questions that we receive.

What exactly is “Born for Greatness”? We are a youth development organization dedicated to transforming boys and young men (ages 10–25) into leaders. We use a blend of life coaching, outdoor experiential learning, and mentorship to help them find clarity and build the “roaring courage” needed to succeed in the modern world.

Is this program only for “troubled” boys? Not at all. While we are highly effective at helping young men navigate behavioral challenges like disrespect or procrastination, our programs are designed for any boy who wants to level up. Whether he is a high achiever looking for leadership skills or a quiet dreamer needing a confidence boost, we help him reach his next level.

What do you mean by “Father-Figuring”? In many homes today, there is a “mentorship gap.” Our mentors step in as positive male role models who provide the guidance, accountability, and “tough-but-fair” love that boys need to transition into healthy manhood. We complement the work of parents and guardians, providing a strong masculine support system.

My son spends all his time on his phone/gaming. Can you help? Yes. This is one of our primary focuses. Our Outdoor Learning programs are designed to be “digital detoxes.” By taking boys into nature (hiking, survival skills), we replace dopamine from screens with the genuine satisfaction of physical achievement and real-world teamwork.

How do you handle disrespectful behavior or “attitude” at home? Behavior is usually a symptom of a deeper issue—lack of purpose or an identity crisis. Through Life Coaching, we help your son understand why he is acting out and give him the tools to communicate his frustrations healthily. We also offer Parenting Workshops to help you align your home environment with the leadership principles he learns here.

Is the Outdoor Learning safe? Safety is our #1 priority. All our outdoor expeditions are led by trained professionals with experience in wilderness first aid and youth safety. We choose locations that are challenging enough to build character but are strictly monitored for safety.

How does this program fit into the school calendar? We align our major camps and intensives with the Kenyan Ministry of Education holidays (April, August, and the long December break). For schools, we offer bespoke leadership workshops that can be integrated into your term-time co-curricular activities.

Can you help with students struggling with academic pressure? Absolutely. We teach “The Greatness Mindset,” which focuses on resilience. We help students handle the pressure of exams (like KCSE/CBC) by teaching them time management, focus, and how to bounce back from a poor grade without losing their self-worth.

Is this just another “school” where I get lectured? Definitely not. We believe in doing, not just listening. Whether you’re learning survival skills in the wild, discovering a hidden talent in our Academy, or being coached 1-on-1, you are the driver. We don’t lecture; we challenge you to prove to yourself what you’re capable of.

I don’t know what I want to do with my life. Is that okay? That’s exactly why we’re here. Most young men feel “stuck.” Our Talent Nurturing Academy and Life Coaching are designed to help you find clarity. We help you look at what’s already in your hands and show you how to turn those interests into a future you’re excited about.

What is the age limit for your programs? Our core programs are tailored for boys and young men between the ages of 10 and 25, grouped appropriately by age to ensure the mentorship and activities are relevant.

How do I get started? The best way to start is by booking a Discovery Call. This is a short conversation where we learn about your son’s specific needs and recommend the program (Coaching, Outdoor Learning, or Leadership) that would be the best fit for him.

Your Son Was Born for Greatness

The question is not whether he has potential. The question is whether he will find the guide who helps him see it — and whether you will find the support you need to stop carrying this burden alone.
Join the hundreds of Kenyan families raising men of clarity, confidence, and conviction. Whether it’s Co-Active Coaching, mentoring, or an outdoor adventure, the journey to greatness begins with one conversation.

“Boys and young men are starving just like everybody else to be seen as they see themselves, as good people. They want to not only survive but also have the opportunity to thrive.”
