Each one of us is destined for greatness and a life that is full of purpose and meaning. Yet, not many of us will end up experiencing joy and fulfillment due to environmental and life factors. Both the people who succeed and fail, have one thing in common. They often don’t know that greatness begins with a tiny seed.
Farmers like Loice Abwao understand the principal of sowing seeds and harvest. They prepare the ground where they sow seeds, provide the ideal environment and expect a bountiful harvest. Every seed they plant often yield a harvest that proves it all begins with a seed.
Loice plants tomatoes, among other things. Tomatoes are delicate plants that need the ideal conditions in order to thrive. They need constant care; watering, pest control and structural support that enables them to yield a good harvest.
Yet, there is a tomato that I saw a few days ago. This tomato is thriving despite being in a harsh condition where tomatoes are not yield flowers and fruits. Granted, the tomato may end up being crashed by a reckless matatu driver, or get trampled upon by a crowd of people.
But one thing is for sure. The tomato tree has already given hope to those who have noticed its growth and development. It has also rekindled the faith of the despairing souls who have vowed to rise from the ashes of disappointments and doubt. This fact alone proves that seeds are meant to yield a harvest, however small it may be.
A seed must fall to the ground and ‘die’ in order to yield a bountiful harvest. In the same manner, to yield greatness, our planted seed must have purpose, determination, kindness, courage, faith, grace, consistency and love!
Your greatness begins with a tiny seed
It all begins with a seed. That is how your path to greatness started when you were conceived and birthed. Maybe you are at a place where your greatness has been buried under a pile of dirt that comes from past failures, disappointments, fear and doubts. But one thing is for sure, you have greatness inside of you. It is there, waiting to be explored, exposed and enjoyed both at a personal and communal level.
According to Aisha Francis who is a reputable Business Strategist and Author, a seed must fall to the ground and ‘die’ before it can yield a bountiful harvest. In the same manner, to yield greatness, the seed planted must have purpose, determination, kindness, courage, faith, grace, consistency and love!
To the person – young or old – reading this, let me remind you of the exponential potential that you possess. Listen, you have infinite power to ensure that the seed you are carrying has the right environment and conditions. Your role is to help your seed to germinate, spring forth and yield a bountiful harvest. After harvesting, you have another responsibility to ensure that your harvest benefits, not only you and your family, but your community and the whole world at large.
Whatever you choose to do today, or fail to achieve at the end of this day, remember that it all begins with a seed. Start sowing seeds of purpose, determination, kindness, courage, faith, grace, consistency and love. And as you do this, remember to carry your seed with boldness, humility, joy, grace and love.
